Sedona · Coconino National Forest · Red-Rock Country
A 2.5-hour Pink Jeep tour through Sedona's red-rock canyons — Mogollon Rim panoramas, pinyon-juniper forest, and Ponderosa pine vistas from a custom open-air Jeep Wrangler with a certified local guide.
The Experience
A 2.5-hour guided 4WD adventure through the iconic red-rock vistas of Coconino National Forest.
Four simple steps from booking your seat to standing on a 2,000-foot red-rock rim.
Head to 204 N. State Route 89A in uptown Sedona — your certified Pink Jeep guide checks you in 30 minutes before departure, then walks you to a custom open-air Jeep Wrangler.
Your guide drives mild dirt roads into Coconino National Forest, climbing 2,000 feet up the Mogollon Rim. Watch the lowland desert open up beneath you and the Ponderosa pines close in above.
Hop out at panoramic vistas — Thunder Mountain, Bradshaw Overlook, and the wedding-rock viewpoint. Your guide knows the angles, narrates the geology, and grabs the group photo.
Return to the Pink Jeep depot 2.5 hours later with the area's geology, flora, and movie-set history mapped out — plus insider tips for vortex sites, sunset photo spots, and the rest of your Sedona trip.

Wondering if a guided jeep tour is worth it over renting your own 4WD or hiking? Here's how the three options compare in Sedona.
| Feature | RECOMMENDED Guided Sedona Jeep Tour | Self-Drive 4WD Rental | Hiking the Trails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access to Gated Trails | Yes — Broken Arrow, Soldier Pass and other USFS-permitted trails closed to general 4WD traffic | No — most premium trails require commercial USFS permits that rentals cannot get | Some, on foot only — hiking trailheads have parking caps and Red Rock Pass requirements |
| Time to Iconic Viewpoints | 2-2.5 hours — guide drives you directly to Mogollon Rim, Thunder Mountain and Bradshaw Overlook | Half-day minimum — navigation, parking, and finding viewpoints solo eats the day | Full day — Devil's Bridge or Cathedral Rock is a 4-6 hour out-and-back |
| Local Geology + History | Live narration on red-rock formation, movie history, vortex theory, and Pink Jeep heritage | App or guidebook only — no live storytelling | Trailhead signage and apps — no guide unless you pre-book one separately |
| Physical Demand | Low — sit, ride, occasional 5-minute walks at viewpoints | Low-moderate — driving is mental; viewpoint stops still require walking | Moderate-strenuous — most worthwhile trails are 2-6 miles with elevation |
| Cost Per Person (2 adults) | From $129/person — 2.5 hours, all-inclusive Pink Jeep Scenic Rim | $80-150/day Jeep rental + gas + parking + Red Rock Pass ($5/day) — split 2 ways | $5/day Red Rock Pass + your own time — cheapest but slowest |
| Best For | First-time visitors, families, photographers wanting Mogollon Rim panoramas | Experienced off-roaders staying 3+ days who want flexible scheduling | Fit hikers with a full day to spare and limited budget |
| Free Cancellation | Yes — up to 24 hours before | Varies by rental agency, often non-refundable | Not applicable |
| Open-Air Jeep Experience | Yes — custom open-top Jeep Wrangler, full wind-in-hair experience | Depends on rental — most rentals are hardtops | Not applicable |

"We did this our first night in Sedona and it was the perfect way to learn about the city and landscape. Noah was fun and knowledgeable and helped us get amazing pictures. Highly recommend!"

"I would not have ever seen the area we toured without doing this tour. The vistas were magnificent. Only negative is that we didn't feel there was enough time to stop and take pictures . And being totally unaccustomed to a rough ride on rugged terrain takes some getting used to."

"Everything was on time."

"Andrew was fabulous. He made sure everyone participated at each stop and was careful that we all were safe. He was very knowledgeable about history, geology and had great stories to tell. The scenery was spectacular and we had a great time."
"Our guide was funny and entertaining. He knew a lot about the area. He was great at taking pictures as well."
"I treated my granddaughter and boyfriend and they absolutely loved it. The guide taught them so much about the desert Plants and the history of the area."
"WOW ! we took the early South Rim trip the scenery was breathtaking. Madison was so knowledgeable. She was so much fun! We went all the way up to Merry go round mountain. We made stops along the way for photos ... Maddy knew where to get the perfect views . Thank you Maddy and Pink Jeeps for the memories"
"It was a joy ride. Tammy, our guide and driver, has great personality, knows what she's doing, and took some of the best pictures for us. My wife and I learned a lot along the (bumpy) way about the century cactus, Alligator Juniper, thin line of limestone, Jerome the ghost town, who Sedona was, how Pink Jeep gets started, and much more. There's a good balance of flying around (in the jeep) and grand sight-seeing/picture taking (the one at the "wedding rock" was terrific!). We totally enjoyed the whole tour!"

Everything you need to know before booking a Sedona red-rock 4WD adventure.
Sedona jeep tours start around $63 for a 1-hour pavement tour and run to $250+ for private 2-hour vortex tours. The Pink Jeep Scenic Rim featured here is $129 per person for 2.5 hours, including a certified guide, a custom open-air Jeep Wrangler, and access to gated Mogollon Rim viewpoints. See our operator comparison for a full price breakdown across Pink Jeep, AZ Safari, Red Rock Western, and Earth Wisdom.
Your booking includes a certified professional guide, live on-board narration covering geology, flora, and movie history, hotel pickup in Sedona, and the Jeep Wrangler ride itself. Gratuities and food/drinks are not included. Bring a water bottle and a hat — the Sedona sun is intense even in cooler months.
Most Sedona jeep tours run 1.5 to 3 hours. The Pink Jeep Scenic Rim featured here is 2.5 hours from check-in to drop-off, including roughly 90 minutes of driving and 30-45 minutes of photo stops at panoramic viewpoints. Longer private tours (Soldier Pass, Broken Arrow, Vortex tours) typically run 2.5-3 hours.
Pink Jeep Tours meets at the depot at 204 N. State Route 89A in uptown Sedona, 30 minutes before departure. Other operators (AZ Safari, Red Rock Western, Earth Wisdom, A Day in the West) each have their own depots within a few blocks of the uptown traffic circle. Most operators offer free hotel pickup within Sedona limits — confirm at booking.
Sedona's mildest tours (Scenic Rim, Oak Creek Canyon Pavement) are mostly smooth dirt roads with gentle rises — fine for most riders. The 'Cowboy' or 'Broken Arrow' tours involve real off-road climbing on slickrock and are intentionally rougher — choose those if you want the thrill, the gentler tours if you have back issues or are bringing kids. See our Broken Arrow vs Soldier Pass guide for a trail-by-trail difficulty breakdown.
Pink Jeep Tours is the largest and best-known Sedona operator, with USFS commercial permits for premium trails like Broken Arrow. AZ Safari runs smaller groups and focuses on vortex/spiritual tours. Red Rock Western specializes in private cowboy-history tours. Earth Wisdom focuses on vortex and night UFO tours. See our detailed operator comparison for pricing and trail differences.
April-May and September-October are ideal — mid-70s°F, clear skies, fewer crowds. Summer (June-August) hits 100°F+ at midday, so book early-morning or late-afternoon slots. Winter (December-February) is cool but tours run year-round; some higher-elevation trails close briefly after snow. See our seasonal guide for monthly weather, sunset timing, and what to wear each season.
Sturdy closed-toe shoes (you'll step out at viewpoints), a hat with a chin strap (open-air jeeps + wind), sunglasses, and sunscreen even in winter. Layer up — Sedona mornings can be 50°F and afternoons 85°F in the same day. Bring a light jacket for the Mogollon Rim 2,000-foot climb. See our first-timer guide for the full packing list and what the tour day actually looks like.
If you have only 1-2 days in Sedona and want red-rock views without hiking, yes — a jeep tour delivers a 360° tour of the iconic vistas, certified guide commentary on the geology and movie history, and access to gated USFS trails you cannot drive yourself. Guests routinely rate Pink Jeep Scenic Rim 4.7/5 across 271 verified reviews. For hikers with 3+ days, a jeep tour pairs well with a Cathedral Rock or Devil's Bridge hike on a separate day.
Yes — AZ Safari's Guided Vortex Jeep Tour ($124), Earth Wisdom's Private Vortex tours ($160+), and Pink Jeep's Touch the Earth Vortex tour ($142) all visit Sedona's four main vortex sites (Airport Mesa, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Boynton Canyon). Guides explain both the geological science and the metaphysical beliefs — you draw your own conclusions.
The mild tours (Pink Jeep Scenic Rim, AZ Safari Oak Creek Canyon Pavement) are family-friendly for ages 3+ and accessible for most seniors. Stricter off-road tours (Broken Arrow, Soldier Pass) have age minimums (usually 8+) and a back-jolt warning. Open-air jeeps mean dust, wind, and direct sun — bring eye protection for everyone.
No additional fees for the jeep tour itself — your booking covers USFS commercial-use permits. However, if you drive into Sedona separately and park at trailheads, you may need a Red Rock Pass ($5/day, sold at REI and visitor centers). The jeep tour drops you back at the depot, so no separate pass is needed for the tour. For Grand Canyon day-trip add-ons, the National Park entrance fee ($35/vehicle, 7-day pass) applies.
